PyVista
PyVista is a Python wrapper for VTK (Visualization Toolkit) offering a concise yet powerful API for 3D mesh processing and scientific visualization. It exposes VTK's C++ capabilities as a Pythonic interface: reading VTU / VTM / VTK simulation formats, high-quality rendering, interactive windows and batch processing of large meshes.
Core features
- File I/O: directly reads VTU / VTM / VTK / STL / OBJ
- Mesh ops: slice extraction, isosurface, subdivision, cell/node data access
- Visualization: scalar/vector field rendering, isosurfaces, volume rendering, animation
- Interactive: ParaView-like exploration via one-line
plot() - Batch: off-screen rendering for image generation
Use cases: Simulation post-processing and report figures; automated visualization pipelines replacing ParaView; quick data exploration and QA; mesh/field preprocessing for ML datasets.
