Samtec Connector 3D CAD Model Library

Provider:Samtec

Samtec offers STEP/IGES and ~100 formats for nearly its whole connector range, free with no login, as L1 rigid geometry; SI EM models need a separate request.

Rationale
Nearly every product page offers 3D models in STEP/IGES and about a hundred other formats with extractable mass and collision geometry, hence L1; models are built from nominal dimensions and materials and omit the fine geometry needed for signal-integrity (SI) EM-field solving — SI users must request dedicated models from Samtec's Signal Integrity Group.
Scale
Covers nearly the full connector portfolio — board-to-board, wire-to-board, RF coax, high-speed and FireFly™ optical — with STEP/IGES and other 3D formats per product page; an additional 100,000+ Samtec connector PCB symbols, footprints and 3D models are published on SnapEDA. (The format count and 'no login required' claim are from Samtec's official blog; the 100,000+ SnapEDA figure is from the Samtec–SnapEDA release. Samtec publishes no total model count, so coverage is stated by product line and platform. Checked 2026-10-31.)
License
Proprietary but free — 3D models are free for product design and selection. Samtec states models are provided 'AS IS', not guaranteed precise, built from nominal dimensions and material properties, and that in-circuit performance may differ materially from simulation — customers must validate with their own experts. Downloading constitutes acceptance of the disclaimer and limitation-of-liability terms; the vendor accepts no liability for damages from model use.

Why it is listed

Wiring harnesses and connector geometry are the smallest but most error-prone parts of any electromechanical digital twin, and Samtec is a default source for high-density, high-speed interconnects: 3D models sit on every product page instead of behind a separate catalog.

Readiness assessment

Almost every Samtec product page offers STEP/IGES and close to a hundred other formats, so rigid-body geometry with extractable mass and collision shells is available — that is L1. The important caveat is scope: models are built from nominal dimensions and materials and do not include the fine geometry required for signal-integrity EM-field solving. Engineers needing SI-grade models for EM solvers must contact Samtec's Signal Integrity Group directly.

Practical notes

On a product page, open the CAD / 3D Models tab to pick a format and download; the popular ones are STEP and IGES. Samtec explicitly provides models "AS IS" and disclaims precision and liability, so always validate critical dimensions against the datasheet. For PCB symbol, footprint and 3D libraries, Samtec has also published 100,000+ models on SnapEDA (a free account is required there).
