Readiness assessment
Over 700,000 parts ship as feature-rich, simplified and drawing files in STEP, SLDPRT and Parasolid (.X_T), plus IGES/SAT and DWG/DXF. Geometry is in-house maintained and mass properties are extractable, putting it at L1. However the license restricts use to evaluating whether to buy McMaster products, so it is not a general reusable asset repository.
Practical notes
A SOLIDWORKS add-in and an API let teams search, insert models, auto-generate BOMs and order forms. Use it while designing around McMaster components and connecting design to procurement; do not treat the geometry as freely redistributable.
